A wine of great depth and integrity, 2018 Backus offers aromatic blackberry, blueberry, cocoa powder and black pepper with notes of forest floor and fragrant young violet. Powerful tannin structure envelopes vibrant layers of crushed rock minerality and black fruit with a fresh, inviting, lingering finish.

Aromas of mint, dark berries and black olives follow through to a medium to full body with lightly chewy and layered tannins that are long and focused. Lots of black olive and conifer undertones, yet it remains subtle. Very long.
