Malternative Cognac #41 Les Champs Fruits Lot 72/73/74 50.13% ABV

Malternative Belgium Cognac #41 “Les Champs Fruités” – Remi Landier

This limited-edition release from Malternative Belgium is a unique blend of Fins Bois Cognacs from Lots 72, 73, and 74, sourced from the cellars of Maison Rémi Landier. Bottled at natural cask strength (50.13%), it captures the essence of the terroir with exceptional aromatic richness and a signature waxy texture. Only 350 bottles were filled on March 20, 2025.

The name “Les Champs Fruités” reflects the Cognac’s vibrant, fruit-driven profile. Through precise micro-vatting of three vintages, a layered and balanced Cognac has emerged — where intense orchard fruit meets refined minerality and aged complexity. The high strength enhances its natural depth without sacrificing elegance.

This bottling showcases the distinctive house style of Rémi Landier, a family-owned Cognac producer rooted in Cors, near Rouillac. With five generations of expertise, including the leadership of Géraldine Landier since 2019, the house honors both monastic tradition and modern creativity. The PAX emblem on their bottles echoes this historical legacy.

Presentation of the bottle

The Cognac comes in a classic 70cl bottle, topped with a black capsule. The label, created by Malternative Belgium, offers a whimsical and colorful depiction of the Fins Bois region. Instead of vines, the hills are planted with fruits – a visual homage to the Cognac’s expressive fruit character.

How to drink

Enjoy this Cognac neat in a tulip glass to allow the full complexity to unfold. A few drops of water can enhance the fruity and floral layers. Best suited for slow sipping and deep contemplation — ideal for seasoned Cognac drinkers or whisky lovers exploring aged Fins Bois expressions.

Color: Deep amber with golden reflections.

Nose: A rich bouquet of ripe orchard fruits – yellow plum, quince, and pear – layered with beeswax and paraffin, evoking vintage single malts. Floral hints of acacia honey and white blossoms add softness, with a final touch of candied citrus peel.

Palate: The texture is waxy and mouth-coating, bursting with flavors of apricot, Mirabelle plum, and peach, supported by a touch of grassy, farmy freshness. High ABV is smoothly integrated, adding intensity and roundness. Delicate spice and oak add structure.

Finish: Very long and evolving. Waxiness fades into notes of dried fruits, polished leather, beeswax, and a subtle rancio touch. A complex, mature Cognac full of finesse.
