About the Yamato Honda Tadakasu
Produced by Yamato Distillery in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, this special samurai series bottling honors the famous military commander Honda Tadakatsu. Distilled from grain and malted barley before maturing in Japanese Mizunara oak casks, this expression delivers aromatic sandalwood notes along with orchard fruit, toasted vanilla, and delicate spice.
Food Pairing: Teriyaki glazed salmon, yakitori, sushi, tempura, or dark chocolate with orange peel.
Tasting Notes: Bright golden amber with smooth, medium viscosity along the glass.
Nose: Elegant and floral, opening with Mizunara wood spice, sandalwood, and ripe pear, followed by honeyed malt, citrus zest, and soft oak vanilla.
Palate: Smooth and gentle on the palate, featuring sweet apple, caramel, and vanilla bean upfront before developing into light coconut, toasted grain, and subtle baking spices.
Finish: Medium-length, clean, and balanced with lingering notes of fragrant wood, sweet cereal, and light spice.
Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn glass, over a large ice sphere, or in a traditional Japanese Highball.
