Douglas Laing & Co Xop Speyside's Finest 55 Year Old

XOP Speyside’s Finest 55 Year Old is an exceptionally rare Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky selected and bottled by independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co. for its 75th Anniversary Diamond Collection. Distilled at an undisclosed celebrated Speyside distillery in November 1967 and bottled in July 2023, it spent 55 years in a single Sherry butt before being released at natural cask strength. Only 310 bottles were produced, with the whisky presented without added colouring or chill filtration.

Food Pairing: Dark chocolate truffles, Christmas cake, aged hard cheese, roasted nuts, plum tart or orange-infused chocolate.

Tasting Notes: A deeply sherried, mature Speyside single malt combining dark fruit, cocoa, warming spice, treacle and seasoned oak with lingering citrus and malt sweetness.

Nose: Bold Sherry influence leads with treacle and allspice, supported by the concentrated richness expected from extended maturation.

Palate: Rich and mouth-coating, with cocoa, juicy plums, warming cinnamon and layers of spiced mature oak.

Finish: Long-lasting malt sweetness accompanied by autumn fruits and a bright touch of Seville orange.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature to appreciate its mature single-cask character; a few drops of water may be added gradually if desired.
