Wolfburn Small Batch 177

Wolfburn Small Batch 177 is a limited-edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky released in September 2023 by Wolfburn Distillery in Thurso. It combines whisky matured for eight years in first-fill ex-bourbon hogsheads with whisky matured for seven years in first-fill Caribbean rum barrels, bringing together bourbon-cask smoothness with the sweeter, richer influence of rum maturation. The release is bottled at 46% ABV in a 700 mL format.

Food Pairing: Roasted pineapple, coconut tart, almond cake, caramelized pork, mature cheddar or dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes: A fruit-forward Highland single malt combining honeyed sweetness, tropical fruit and warming spice with a rounded influence from bourbon and Caribbean rum casks.

Nose: Sweet fruit and caramel lead into plum, ginger and tropical notes, with touches of dried fruit and nuts.

Palate: Honeyed and fruity, with pineapple, coconut and caramel accompanied by oak, dried fruit and gentle warming spice.

Finish: Fruity and lingering, with tropical fruit, coconut and spice gradually fading into a gentle sweetness.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature or with a small amount of water to open the fruit and cask-derived sweetness.
