The Lakes Distillery Whiskymaker's Reserve Equinox Single Malt Whisky

Produced by The Lakes Distillery on the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria, England, Equinox is a limited-edition English single malt from The Whiskymaker’s Editions series. Released in 2023, it was created around the transition from summer into autumn, emphasizing floral character, orchard fruit and warming spice. The whisky was matured using American and European oak Oloroso sherry casks alongside Calvados-seasoned casks and bottled at 46.6% ABV, natural in colour and without chill filtration.

Food Pairing: Apple tart, roasted pork with apple glaze, mature cheddar, dark chocolate desserts, or spiced fruit cake.

Tasting Notes: Bright golden-amber appearance, reflecting the whisky’s naturally presented colour.

Nose: Fragrant and fruit-forward, with baked apple, fresh apricot and orange blossom complemented by delicate floral notes, baking spices and sandalwood.

Palate: Rich and rounded, developing orchard fruits and ripe apricot alongside treacle, dried apple, polished oak and sweet warming spices.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering orchard fruit, sweet spice and lightly spiced treacle.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass; a few drops of water can be added to explore its floral and fruit character.
