Elixir Whisky Trail Knights Blair Athol 2011

The Whisky Trail Knights Blair Athol 2011 is an 11 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Blair Athol Distillery and independently bottled by Elixir Distillers for The Whisky Trail – Knights series. Distilled on November 1, 2011 and bottled on November 4, 2022, it matured in a Bourbon Hogshead, Cask No. 308085. The whisky was bottled at cask strength of 58% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Food Pairing: Roasted pork, aged cheddar, dark chocolate, plum tart, toasted nuts or buttery shortbread.

Tasting Notes: A robust Highland single malt combining rich malt and oak with ripe fruit, darker savoury notes and bourbon-cask sweetness.

Nose: Ripe plum, vanilla and toasted oak with malt, leather, coffee and warming spice.

Palate: Rich and full-bodied, with ripe plum, pepper, roasted malt, coffee and oak complemented by underlying bourbon-cask sweetness.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering oak, dark fruit, pepper and roasted coffee notes.

Serve: Best enjoyed neat at room temperature. At 58% ABV, a few drops of water can help open the fruit, malt and oak character.
