About the Whisky Sponge Edition No.73A Saillt Mor 2014 8 Year Old 57.1% ABV 700ml
This whisky from German distiller Ralf Hauer really impressed us with its power, purity and vivid peat flavours. German whisky with a decidedly Scottish accent.
This was distilled in 2014 and filled into 1st fill bourbon barrels where it was matured for 8 years in Germany before transferring to the UK for bottling. We bottled this with a few degrees reduction to 57.1% to help the distillate character shine loud and clear.
Edition 73A was distilled using peated malt and presents a beautifully rugged and pure take on peat flavour, with breads, spices and smoky / salty notes in abundance.
