A hearty and juicy Caol Ila fully matured in refill sherry. A single 2nd fill sherry butt filled in 2009, matured for 12 years and bottled at natural cask strength of 56.3%.
Sherry and peat can be uneasy bedfellows in modern whisky, but this cask shows a lovely balanced profile of gently salty and gamey sherry with big, syrupy and tarry peat smoke.
