About the Whiskey Sponge Tennessee Bourbon 2016 8 Year Old 57.1% ABV 700ml
This is Whiskey Sponge. It’s an 8 Year Old, 2016 Tennessee Sour Mash Bourbon. A wee parting treat from the Sponge!
We waited flippin’ ages to find a Bourbon we liked. Well, here it is! A bit late but better late than never!
It’s an unnamed George Dickel Tennessee Sour Mash Bourbon. Distilled in 2016, matured in a brand spanking new, splinter-proffering, vanillin-drenched American oak barrel that has been charred within an inch of its life! It spent three years in the frankly outrageous temperatures of Tennessee, before cooling off for a further five years in Scotland.
We got hold of it and bottled it at 8 years of age, with several degrees reduction down to our favorite bottling strength of 57.1% (or 114.2 proof when translated into American).
The mashbill for this luscious wood smoothie is: 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley.
We love the result, it’s juicy, fruity and goes down like warm, expensive varnish!
