Walkers Special Old 1.14L

Distilled at the historic Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Windsor, Ontario, Walker's Special Old (often labeled as Hiram Walker Special Old) is a classic entry-level Canadian rye whisky with a production heritage dating back to 1858. Produced from a traditional Canadian blend of rye, corn, and barley whiskies aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 3 years, it is bottled at 40% ABV. Recognized by its distinctive square glass bottle with diamond-patterned indents, this staple Canadian release offers an approachable, grain-forward profile balancing robust rye spices, toffee sweetness, and dry oak.

Food Pairing: Barbecue ribs, smoked brisket, sharp Cheddar, pulled pork sandwiches, or roasted nuts.

Tasting Notes: Rich warm copper amber with medium viscosity along the glass.

Nose: Vibrant and sweet, opening with prominent notes of rye spice, sweet corn, and butterscotch, followed by vanilla, red apple, and subtle toasted oak sawdust.

Palate: Smooth and spice-forward on the palate, featuring initial waves of peppery rye spice, cinnamon, and caramel upfront before softening into sweet cream, orange zest, and light barrel char.

Finish: Medium length, clean, and pleasantly drying with lingering notes of dark chocolate, citrus zest, and warm ginger.

Serve: Enjoy neat, on the rocks, or as a classic base in a Rye & Ginger, Whisky Sour, or Old Fashioned.
