Tyrrell's just do things right, and Shiraz is one of the things they've been getting right for over 160 years - after all, it is one of the first varieties Edward Tyrrell planted back in 1858.

The Vat 9 Shiraz, sourced from the old vines of the Ashmans vineyard, is deep and soulful, full of power, tannin and dark-fruited concentration.

Only very small amounts are released of this profound wine, so make sure you grab some Australian wine history.

The wine overflows with lively, spicy fruits that dance in the mouth as the oak joins in the savoury core, reflecting the maturation in 'mostly newer' oak for the usual 14 months. There also appears to be some whole bunches involved.

A juicy and fruity shiraz with plums, ripe strawberries and undertones of sliced red meat, terra cotta and orange peel. Medium to full body, creamy tannins and a savory finish. Lovely intensity of fruit and focus
