Tyrrell's Vat 47 Hunter Chardonnay 2017 is an elegant Hunter Valley white with delicate citrus, grapefruit and white stone fruit supported by subtle oak. The palate is refined and concentrated, balancing generous Chardonnay fruit with vibrant acidity, mineral freshness and fine texture through a long finish.

This is very deep and composed with layers of ripe-apple, cream, coconut and pie-crust character. Full body. Lightly velvety texture and a flavorful finish. Intense but in reserve. Gorgeous white. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The 2017 Vat 47 Chardonnay is slow to evolve and showing crushed nuts, sea salt, pink grapefruit, a hint of wafer and lashings of saline acid. The phenolics and super fine, and the wine is elongated and lingering through the finish. I am a huge fan of this wine, and I often buy it on auction as an older wine, back to the early 1990s. It ages extraordinarily well and has offered both interest and pleasure to me and my friends over many evenings. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
