This Tua Rita Redigaffi Mixed Vertical offers a fascinating comparison of three distinct vintages from one of Italy’s most iconic 100% Merlot producers. Sourced from the iron-rich soils of Suvereto, each wine was matured for approximately 18 months in 100% new French oak, yet they each reflect the unique weather patterns of their respective years.

2011 Vintage Rating:

95 Points - Wine Spectator

The estate's 2011 Redigaffi was just bottled, but it doesn't seem to be showing any reticence at all. Smoke, tar and incense all add a dimension of exoticism as this voluptuous, textured Merlot shows off its personality. Layers of fruit build to a creamy, resonant finish. There is a lot to look forward to here.

2012 Vintage Rating:

98 Points - James Suckling

Compelling aromas of chili pepper, nuts, beeswax and dark fruits with dried strawberries. Hints of black olives and meat. Full body with extremely thick, silky tannins and a long, flavorful finish. This is layered and so structured, with fabulous length and density. Savory. Chocolate powder at the end. This needs at least three or four years of bottle age. A triumph for the vintage. Pure merlot.

2015 Vintage Rating:

100 Points - James Suckling

This is an extraordinary merlot with such purity and focus. Flowers such as violets and hints of orange peel. It is full-bodied yet incredibly energetic and structured. The finish goes on for minutes. Seamless texture. Fresh yet dense. Contrasty. Best Redigaffi ever. Hard not to drink now but a wine for decades.
