About the True North Whisky
Produced by Highwood Distillers in High River, Alberta, True North is an approachable, budget-friendly Canadian rye whisky. Crafted from locally sourced Canadian grains, including prairie corn and rye, it is aged in seasoned oak barrels for a minimum of 3 years and bottled at 40% ABV. The whisky delivers a classic, light-bodied Canadian profile balancing soft butterscotch sweetness, gentle corn syrup, and a dry rye spice finish.
Food Pairing: Barbecue chicken, pulled pork, sharp Cheddar, potato chips, or grilled sausages.
Tasting Notes: Pale golden amber with bright clarity and light legs along the glass.
Nose: Soft and grain-forward, opening with sweet corn, butterscotch, and vanilla, followed by light rye grain, white pepper, and subtle oak sawdust.
Palate: Light and smooth on the palate, featuring sweet caramel, corn syrup, and subtle vanilla upfront before developing into peppery rye spice, ginger, and faint wood oak.
Finish: Short-to-medium length, clean, and warm with lingering notes of dry grain, butterscotch, and light ginger spice.
Serve: Enjoy over ice, or as a mix in classic long drinks like a Rye & Ginger, Rye & Cola, or Whisky Sour.
