A sophisticated and high-toned expression of Alto Piemonte, the 2021 Travaglini Gattinara reflects the unique volcanic terroir of the Monte Rosa foothills. This 100% Nebbiolo pours a deep ruby red with elegant garnet reflections. The nose is complex and inviting, offering a bouquet of wild strawberries, crushed raspberries, and rose petals, layered with savory notes of leather, licorice, and a distinct iron-tinged minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and impeccably balanced, showcasing the characteristic "vertical" structure of the region with racy acidity and firm, noble tannins. Nuances of spice, balsamic herbs, and stony undertones lead to a long, precise finish. Having aged for approximately 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, it offers both immediate appeal and excellent cellaring potential.
