Torabhaig Legacy Series Chapter 4 Sound of Sleat Single Malt Scotch

Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is the fourth chapter of the distillery's Legacy Series, created to document the development of Torabhaig's distinctive “Smoke with Taste” house style. Produced from Concerto and Laureate malted barley, the malt is peated to 78+ PPM before distillation, while the finished whisky measures 14.5 PPM in the glass. It matures for approximately 5–6 years exclusively in American oak, using 75% first-fill bourbon barrels, 20% virgin American oak and 5% refill bourbon barrels. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added colouring, it combines elegant peat smoke with citrus, apricot, honey, vanilla, sea salt and maritime character. 

Food Pairing: Pair with smoked salmon, grilled prawns, roast pork, smoked chicken, mature cheddar, toasted almonds, honey-glazed nuts or citrus-based desserts.

Tasting Notes: Maritime and smoky, with bright citrus and stone fruit balanced by honey, vanilla, sea salt, sweet oak and warming spice.

Nose: Orange and apricot lead into sweet popcorn, maritime seaweed and subtle pipe-tobacco smoke, rounded by honey, vanilla and confectionery sweetness.

Palate: Zesty oak spice and rich bonfire smoke develop alongside honey and vanilla, with a slightly waxy texture followed by sea salt, seaweed, white pepper and sweet spice. 

Finish: Lingering and elegant, with honeyed sweetness, coastal salinity, smoke and a persistent oceanic character. 

Serve: Enjoy neat in a tulip-shaped whisky glass. A small amount of water can soften the peat and reveal more citrus, honey and vanilla.
