Claxton’s Warehouse No.1 Tomintoul 8 Year Old 2014 Oloroso Sherry Hogshead

Claxton’s Warehouse No.1 Tomintoul 8 Year Old is an independently bottled Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Tomintoul Distillery on 1 September 2014 and bottled in 2022. The whisky matured for eight years in a single Oloroso Sherry Hogshead, Cask #C22053, before being bottled at cask strength of 56.7% ABV. Only 357 bottles were produced, at natural colour and without chill filtration. The heavy sherry influence complements Tomintoul's softer malt character with rum-and-raisin sweetness, chocolate, coffee, rich fruit and warming spice.

Food Pairing: Pair with roast beef, glazed pork, mature cheddar, roasted walnuts, fruitcake, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate-covered raisins or dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes: Rich and sherry-driven, combining dried fruit and fudge with chocolate, coffee, sweet malt and warming spice.

Nose: Rum-and-raisin fudge, chocolate-covered raisins and roasted coffee beans, supported by rich sherried fruit and sweet malt.

Palate: Sweet and fruit-forward at first, developing into creamy milk chocolate, rich cocoa and warming spice.

Finish: Sweet and distinctly sherried, with lingering cocoa, dried fruit and a rich, spicy aftertaste.

Serve: Enjoy neat after allowing it to rest in the glass. At 56.7% ABV, gradually adding a few drops of water can open the dried-fruit, chocolate and spice character.
