Tomatin Italian Collection Barolo Edition 12 Year Old 2010

Tomatin The Italian Collection Barolo Edition is a limited-release 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky created to showcase the influence of Italian wine casks on Tomatin's elegant, fruit-driven spirit. Distilled on 6 December 2010, the whisky matured for 10 years in traditional Scotch whisky oak casks before being transferred on 10 February 2021 to Barolo wine casks for a further two years. It was bottled on 5 June 2023 at 46% ABV. The Barolo influence brings darker fruit and wine-driven character, with mulled wine, dark chocolate, cranberry, grapefruit, gentle tannins and sugared almonds.

Food Pairing: Pair with roast beef, duck, aged Parmesan, mature cheddar, cured meats, roasted almonds, dark chocolate, cranberry desserts or chocolate-orange cake.

Tasting Notes: Rich and wine-influenced, balancing dark fruit and chocolate with cranberry, bright citrus, gentle tannins and nutty sweetness.

Nose: Warm mulled-wine aromas mingle with dark chocolate, red fruit and gentle spice.

Palate: Spiced honeyed notes develop into tart cranberry and fresh grapefruit, giving the whisky a lively contrast between rich wine character and citrus freshness.

Finish: Lingering and gently drying, with light wine tannins, sugared almonds, fruit and subtle oak.

Serve: Enjoy neat in a tulip-shaped whisky glass. Allow it several minutes to open; a few drops of water can soften the tannins and reveal more fruit and chocolate.
