Tomatin Italian Collection Amarone Edition 12 Year Old 2010

Tomatin The Italian Collection Amarone Edition is a limited-release 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky created to explore the influence of Italian wine casks on Tomatin's elegant, fruit-forward spirit. Distilled on 6 December 2010, it matured for 10 years in traditional Scotch whisky oak casks before being transferred on 10 February 2021 to Amarone wine casks for a further two years. Bottled on 5 June 2023 at 46% ABV, the Amarone maturation adds rich red-fruit and dessert-like character, with poached pear, rhubarb and custard, strawberry jam, Turkish delight, light pastry and cinnamon-spiced apple.

Food Pairing: Pair with roast duck, glazed pork, aged Parmesan, mature cheddar, prosciutto, berry tart, apple crumble, almond pastries or dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes: Rich and fruit-forward, combining ripe red fruit and orchard fruit with creamy confectionery, delicate pastry and warming cinnamon spice.

Nose: Poached pear and sweet rhubarb-and-custard notes lead into ripe red fruit and gentle wine-cask richness.

Palate: Strawberry jam and Turkish delight are complemented by light buttery pastry, sweet orchard fruit and subtle spice.

Finish: Rich and lingering, with cinnamon-spiced red apple, sweet fruit and gentle oak.

Serve: Enjoy neat in a tulip-shaped whisky glass. Allow it to rest for several minutes, or add a few drops of water to bring forward more of the red fruit and confectionery character.
