The Lakes Distillery Whiskymaker's Reserve No. 6

Produced by The Lakes Distillery near Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria, England, The Whiskymaker’s Reserve No. 6 is the penultimate release in the distillery’s seven-part Reserve series. Released in 2023, this sherry-led English single malt was principally matured in bespoke Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and red wine casks crafted from Spanish and American oak. Bottled at 52% ABV, non-chill filtered and at natural colour, No. 6 emphasizes exotic spice, fragrant floral notes and rich dried fruit while retaining the bold character of the Reserve series.

Food Pairing: Sticky toffee pudding, fruit cake, dark chocolate, roasted duck, mature cheeses, or spiced desserts with dried fruit and nuts.

Tasting Notes: Rich and full-bodied, combining concentrated dried fruit and mellow sweetness with aromatic spice, floral accents and polished oak.

Nose: Rich and aromatic, opening with exotic spice, marzipan and delicate rose water, followed by candied ginger and polished oak.

Palate: Rich and mellow, with sun-dried Ajwa dates and toasted teacake complemented by layers of gentle warming spice.

Finish: Long, rich and complex, with lingering spice and seasoned oak carrying through after the sweeter fruit notes fade.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass; a few drops of water can help reveal additional layers of fruit, floral character and spice.
