The Prisoner Chardonnay 2022

The Prisoner Chardonnay 2022 is a rich, full-bodied, and aromatic white wine crafted by The Prisoner Wine Company. Sourced predominantly from cool-climate vineyards in the Carneros region straddling Napa and Sonoma counties, this release breaks traditional single-varietal conventions by co-blending Chardonnay with small amounts of Roussanne and Gewürztraminer. Aged for 10 months in French oak barrels (50% new), it displays a pale yellow-straw hue. The complex nose opens with aromas of yellow peach, ripe pineapple, toasted vanilla, and baked apple, complemented by delicate honeysuckle floral notes. On the palate, it is opulent and creamy, featuring layered flavors of lemon curd, crème brûlée, butterscotch, and sweet baking spices balanced by a refreshing line of natural acidity that carries into a smooth, lingering finish.
