Fuenteseca Extra Anejo 21 Year Old Tequila

Crafted at the historic Tequileña distillery in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco, Fuenteseca Reserva Extra Añejo 21 Year Old is one of the longest-aged tequilas in world history, distilled under the direction of master distiller Enrique Fonseca. Harvested in 1999 from estate-grown highland Weber Blue Agave, the spirit was distilled using a combination of copper pot stills and column stills. The aging process took place in a cool, high-altitude subterranean cellar, spending 10 years in California white wine casks before being transferred to French oak barrels for an additional 11 years. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 43.5% ABV without filtration or additives, this ultra-rare vintage offers a profound, cognac-like complexity while maintaining a surprising core of cooked agave essence.

Food Pairing: Extra dark chocolate (80%+ cacao), vintage aged Gouda or Roquefort cheese, slow-braised venison mole, roasted hazelnuts, tarte Tatin, or a fine Cuban cigar.

Tasting Notes: Deep mahogany copper with ruby highlights, displaying extreme viscosity and slow-forming, heavy tears.

Nose: Intensely rich, decadent, and layered, opening with aromas of rancio, pipe tobacco, leather, and dark cocoa, followed by dried figs, marzipan, old French oak, and a subtle undertone of caramelized roasted agave.

Palate: Unctuous, velvety, and full-bodied on the palate, bursting with dark fruit, roasted coffee bean, and dark chocolate upfront before unfolding into complex layers of toasted oak, nutmeg, leather, and concentrated agave nectar.

Finish: Exceptionally long, warm, and meditative with lingering notes of dark cocoa, refined oak tannins, dried plum, and a soft, glowing mineral spice.

Serve: Serve strictly neat in a Glencairn snifter or Riedel Tequila glass at room temperature. Allow the spirit to rest in the glass for 15 to 20 minutes before tasting to let the two decades of barrel integration open fully.
