Taylor Fladgate Historical Collection II - The Chestnut is a limited-edition Reserve Tawny Port produced by the historic house of Taylor Fladgate in the Douro Valley. The second release in the winery's Historical Collection, its unique packaging pays tribute to the flat "chestnut" shaped glass bottles manufactured in England and widely used across continental Europe between 1715 and 1740. Sourced from Taylor Fladgate’s extensive reserves of wood-aged Ports and matured in seasoned oak pipes, the wine exhibits a deep brick-red core with russet highlights. On the nose, it delivers intense, mature aromas of plum, fig, and sultana raisins layered with butterscotch, marzipan, cedar, cigar box, and soft leather. The palate is rich, round, and smooth, displaying concentrated flavors of fruitcake, spice, and dried fruits balanced by a firm grip and a long, warming finish.
