Legacy Red 2017

The Legacy Red Blend assembles Bordeaux varietals from superior vineyard blocks within Alexander Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon predominates, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot adding greater aromatic complexity and depth. This wine exhibits aromas of cassis, violet, fennel and mocha alongside a faint hint of bay leaf—a nod to the wine’s mountain provenance. Black fruit, graphite and forest botanicals cascade through a powerful textural presence held aloft by chewy tannins. Extraordinarily layered and complex, this wine will reward patience and will age easily for two decades.

This is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot made from a selection of vineyards, including the high-elevation Alexander Mountain Estate. Earthy in sage, cedar and dried herb, it shows a wealth of mountain power and tannin, with wisps of tobacco and blackberry dappled in oak. Virginie Boone
