About the Archives Staoisha 2013 10 Year Old The Fishes of Samoa
Distilled at Bunnahabhain Distillery in 2013, this heavily peated Islay Single Malt was matured for 10 years in a single ex-Bourbon barrel before being bottled by Archives in 2023 for The Fishes of Samoa series. The single cask yielded 232 bottles at a natural cask strength of 57.9% ABV. Staoisha represents Bunnahabhain’s heavily peated production, delivering an intense combination of coastal peat smoke, citrus, sweet malt, vanilla and maritime character.
Food Pairing: Smoked salmon, grilled seafood, barbecue pork, mature cheddar, roasted nuts or dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes: Powerful and maritime with dense peat smoke, citrus, vanilla sweetness, toasted malt, pepper and coastal salinity.
Nose: Coastal peat smoke and sea salt with citrus zest, vanilla, earthy notes and charred oak.
Palate: Rich peat smoke with grilled lemon, honey, toasted malt and black pepper, followed by dark chocolate and warming oak.
Finish: Long, smoky and warming with lingering maritime salinity, sweet malt, pepper and oak.
Serve: Enjoy neat to experience its full cask-strength character, then add a few drops of water to open the citrus, sweetness and smoky complexity.
