Stagg Jr Batch 14

Produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, Stagg Jr. Batch 14 is an uncut and unfiltered Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey released in 2020. Bottled at a formidable 130.2 proof (65.10% ABV), Batch 14 showcases the concentrated barrel-proof style for which Stagg Jr. became known. Made using Buffalo Trace’s low-rye Mash Bill #1 and matured in new charred American oak, it delivers layers of dark fruit, caramel and brown sugar alongside chocolate, vanilla, oak and powerful warming spice.

Food Pairing: Smoked brisket, grilled steak, aged cheddar, pecan pie, dark chocolate, or caramel desserts with roasted nuts.

Tasting Notes: Powerful and full-bodied, combining dark fruit and caramelized sweetness with chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla, charred oak and concentrated baking spice.

Nose: Rich and intense, with dark cherry and caramel accompanied by brown sugar, vanilla, seasoned oak and warming cinnamon spice.

Palate: Bold and mouth-coating, developing dark cherry, caramel and chocolate alongside vanilla, cinnamon, toasted oak and assertive barrel spice.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering dark fruit, caramel, cinnamon and charred oak followed by persistent barrel-proof heat.

Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass; at 65.10% ABV, gradually adding water can help open its fruit, chocolate and caramel character while moderating its considerable strength.
