Stagg Jr Batch 17

Produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, Stagg Jr. Batch 17 is a barrel-proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey released in 2021. Bottled uncut and unfiltered at 128.7 proof (64.35% ABV). Built from Buffalo Trace’s low-rye Mash Bill #1 and matured in new charred American oak, it delivers a concentrated profile of dark fruit, chocolate and brown sugar with leather, caramel, seasoned oak and warming spice.

Food Pairing: Smoked brisket, grilled steak, aged cheddar, dark chocolate, pecan pie, or caramel desserts with roasted nuts.

Tasting Notes: Powerful and full-bodied, balancing dark fruit and rich caramelized sweetness with chocolate, brown sugar, leather, toasted oak and warming baking spice.

Nose: Rich and concentrated, with dark fruit, caramel and molasses accompanied by maple sweetness, leather, seasoned oak and warm baking spices.

Palate: Bold and mouth-coating, developing dark chocolate and brown sugar alongside plum, raspberry, tobacco, leather, hazelnut and toasted oak.

Finish: Long and warming, with dark vanilla, oak, clove and lingering dark-fruit sweetness gradually fading into barrel spice.

Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass; at 64.35% ABV, gradually adding a few drops of water can help reveal additional dark fruit, caramel and chocolate while moderating its barrel-proof intensity.
