Spy Valley Pinot Noir 2022 is an elegant, multi-layered New Zealand red wine crafted from estate-grown fruit in the cool-climate Waihopai Valley. The 2022 growing season benefited from excellent flowering conditions, followed by careful canopy management to preserve vibrant, pure varietal characteristics. Vinified in separate batches with gentle plunging in open-top fermenters, the wine was matured for 11 months in French oak barrels. In the glass, it exhibits a bright ruby hue, leading to an aromatic bouquet of ripe red cherries, wild raspberries, and sweet plums, accented by notes of cinnamon spice and a subtle forest-floor earthiness. The palate is structured and linear, showing sweet red berry fruits upfront that transition into fine, structural tannins and balanced acidity, finishing with persistent, savory spice.
