About the Springbank 13 Year Old Local Barley 2010
Springbank 13 Year Old Local Barley is a limited-release Campbeltown single malt distilled in June 2010 and bottled in December 2023 for the 2024 release. It was produced using Belgravia barley grown at Glencraigs Farm in Campbeltown, continuing Springbank’s grain-to-glass Local Barley tradition. Matured for 13 years in a combination of 60% Bourbon casks and 40% Sherry casks, it was bottled at 54.1% ABV, with an outturn of 8,400 bottles.
Food Pairing: Mature cheddar, roast pork, smoked meats, toasted almonds, fruitcake or caramel-based desserts.
Tasting Notes: Rich and oily with a combination of ripe fruit, malt, gentle spice, confectionery sweetness and subtle Campbeltown peat.
Nose: Ripe bananas, boiled sweets and cinnamon with underlying malt and fruit.
Palate: Thick and oily with peppery malt, strawberries, brandy-like fruitiness and floral notes reminiscent of Parma violets.
Finish: Subtle peat smoke develops alongside wine-gum sweetness, toasted oats, earthy dunnage notes and a gently drying finish.
Serve: Enjoy neat initially. At 54.1% ABV, a few drops of water can help open the fruit, malt and subtle smoky character.
