Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 28

Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 28 is a 2025 release from Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown. Unlike many previous batches that combine Bourbon and Sherry maturation, Batch 28 was matured entirely in Bourbon casks for 12 years and bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.5% ABV. The Bourbon-only maturation puts greater emphasis on Springbank’s distinctive spirit, bringing together tropical and candied fruit, rich malt, peppery smoke, coastal character and savoury complexity. 

Food Pairing: Charred steak, smoked pork, salted pretzels, mature cheddar, grilled meats, dark chocolate or caramel desserts.

Tasting Notes: Sweet and fruity at first, developing into a robust combination of peppery smoke, toffee, savoury char and coastal notes before a smoky, bittersweet finish.

Nose: Fruit-salad sweets, raspberry ripple, dried mango and frosting with a layer of dark chocolate.

Palate: Smoked cayenne pepper and crushed chilli are balanced by toffee and savoury charred-steak notes.

Finish: Gentle peat smoke with pink grapefruit, cocoa powder, glazed cherries and salted pretzels.

Serve: Enjoy neat first, then add a few drops of water to open the fruit, malt and smoky character.
