About the Southern Comfort
Southern Comfort is a flavored liqueur with a complex history. Created in 1874 by bartender Martin Wilkes Heron in New Orleans, it was originally known as “Cuffs & Buttons.” SoCo was intended to soften or sweeten harsh or lower-quality whiskey using fruit (especially stone fruit like peach), citrus, spices (like vanilla, cinnamon, cloves), sweeteners (sugar or honey), etc.
