Sortilege Canadian Rye Whisky Maple Wood

Produced in Quebec, Sortilège Canadian Rye Whisky is a 40% ABV Canadian whisky distinguished from the brand’s maple-syrup liqueurs by a unique maple wood finishing process rather than the addition of maple syrup. Made from Canadian corn, rye and barley, the whisky matures for three years in oak barrels before undergoing maceration with locally sourced maple wood that has been carefully dried and toasted. This process adds subtle smoky, woody complexity while retaining the whisky’s grain-driven sweetness and rye spice.

Food Pairing: Maple-glazed pork, smoked meats, aged cheddar, roasted nuts, apple desserts, or dark chocolate with caramel.

Tasting Notes: Smooth and moderately full-bodied, balancing grain sweetness and rye spice with butterscotch, vanilla, toasted wood and subtly smoky maple-wood character.

Nose: Warm and inviting, with vanilla and toasted wood accompanied by subtle caramel, grain sweetness and gently spicy rye character.

Palate: Smooth and rounded, developing butterscotch and vanilla alongside warming rye spice, toasted wood and restrained caramel-like sweetness.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering rye spice, toasted wood and a distinctive subtly smoky character from the roasted maple wood.

Serve: Enjoy neat, over ice, or in classic whisky cocktails such as an Old Fashioned or Manhattan, where its maple-wood character can add additional depth.
