About the Lee W. Sinclair Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
A revolutionary, 4-grain "Indiana-style" bourbon that pays homage to the legendary entrepreneur who built the West Baden Springs Hotel! Spirits of French Lick stands out by being the largest strictly pot-still distillery in Indiana, and this Bottled-in-Bond expression is their flagship masterpiece. It features a highly unconventional mash bill of 60% corn, 17% wheat, 13% oats, and 10% caramel malt. The oats provide an incredible, creamy mouthfeel, while the caramel malt adds a toasted, brewing-inspired sweetness. Adhering to the Bottled-in-Bond Act, it is aged for a minimum of four years, double pot distilled, and bottled at a perfect 100 proof (50% ABV).
NOSE
Highly aromatic and unique. Rich scents of orange zest and stewed plums are layered over malted milk balls, fresh-milled grain, and a distinct note of chocolate-covered rice cereal.
PALATE
Luxuriously creamy and round. Initial flavors of sweet caramel and vanilla are quickly joined by a complex "breakfast" profile of honey-drizzled wheat bread, apple cinnamon rolls, and a savory hint of graham cracker.
FINISH
Long and warming with a sophisticated dry edge. It resolves into notes of French walnut, white pepper, and a lingering, fruity sweetness reminiscent of ground cherries.
