Smuggler's Trail PX Cask Blended Whisky

Produced by Zuidam Distillers in Baarle-Nassau, Netherlands, Smuggler’s Trail PX Cask is a limited-release Dutch single blended whisky made entirely from spirits distilled in Zuidam’s own pot stills. It combines single malt whisky, wheat whisky made from wheat and malted barley, and five-grain whisky made from rye, corn, wheat, spelt and malted barley. The PX Cask edition is matured exclusively in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, giving the blend a rich profile of dried fruit, chocolate, malt and vanilla. It is bottled at 43% ABV.

Food Pairing: Dark chocolate, fruit cake, aged Gouda, roasted nuts, sticky toffee pudding, or desserts featuring raisins and dried figs.

Tasting Notes: Rich and sherry-driven, combining chocolate and raisins with sweet malt, vanilla, dried fruit and gently warming oak spice.

Nose: Sweet and inviting, with dried fruit and sherry character accompanied by raisins, caramel, vanilla and mild seasoned oak.

Palate: Rounded and richly flavoured, with chocolate and raisins at the forefront, followed by fruity accents, sweet malt, vanilla and gently spicy oak.

Finish: Smooth and medium in length, with lingering chocolate, nuts, dried fruit and gentle sweetness.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass; a few drops of water can help reveal additional dried fruit, chocolate and malt character.
