Smuggler's Trail Peated Oloroso Blended

Produced by Zuidam Distillers in Baarle-Nassau, Netherlands, Smuggler’s Trail Peated Oloroso is a limited-edition Dutch single blended whisky combining four pot-still-distilled whiskies from the same distillery. The blend consists of peated single malt, wheat whisky, corn whisky and five-grain whisky, all matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 43% ABV, it balances delicate peat smoke with citrus freshness, raisins, dried fruit and chocolate, giving the whisky a distinctly sherried yet approachable smoky character.

Food Pairing: Smoked meats, aged Gouda, dark chocolate, fruit cake, roasted nuts, or orange desserts with caramelized sweetness.

Tasting Notes: Dark gold with a layered balance of delicate peat smoke, fresh citrus, raisins, dried fruit, chocolate and rich Oloroso sherry influence.

Nose: Fresh and elegant, opening with delicate smoke before developing lemon and citrus alongside raisins, chocolate and warm dried-fruit sweetness.

Palate: Rich and balanced, with more pronounced peat smoke complemented by fresh lemon and lime, dried fruit, raisins, chocolate and sherry-driven sweetness.

Finish: Medium in length and pleasantly sweet, with lingering smoke, dried fruit, chocolate and gently drying Oloroso character.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped glass; a few drops of water can help reveal additional citrus, dried fruit and smoky character.
