Shinobu Single Malt Small Batch Japanese Whisky

Produced by Shinobu Distillery in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, Shinobu Single Malt Small Batch is the distillery’s first small-batch single malt release. Made from malted barley, the whisky is matured for a minimum of three years, primarily in first-fill bourbon barrels before further maturation in Japanese Mizunara oak. Limited to 3,000 bottles worldwide and bottled at 43% ABV, it combines rich malt and vanilla sweetness with chocolate, tropical fruit, citrus, subtle spice and the distinctive woody character of Mizunara oak.

Food Pairing: Grilled salmon, yakitori, roasted pork, aged cheese, dark chocolate, or citrus desserts with toasted nuts.

Tasting Notes: Smooth and mellow, balancing vanilla and malt sweetness with chocolate, cacao, tropical fruit, citrus, gentle spice and aromatic Mizunara oak.

Nose: Rich vanilla and malt open alongside chocolate and cacao, followed by passion fruit and the distinctive aromatic character of Mizunara oak.

Palate: Smooth and gently sweet, with vanilla and malt complemented by citrus, subtle spice and a restrained smoky oak character.

Finish: Medium in length, sweet and woody, with lingering Mizunara oak, gentle spice and a slightly bitter note adding structure.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass; a few drops of water can help reveal additional vanilla, tropical fruit and Mizunara oak character.
