Se Busca Anejo Mezcal Artesanal

Crafted in San Juan del Río, Oaxaca, Mexico, Se Busca Añejo is a super-premium aged artisanal mezcal produced by maestras mezcaleras Rodolfo and Mary Lopez Cerna. Meaning "Wanted" in Spanish, the brand pays tribute to the courageous women of the Mexican Revolution (the Soldaderas). Made from 100% estate-grown Espadín agave (Agave angustifolia) that matures for 7 to 9 years, the piñas are slow-roasted in traditional underground conical stone pit ovens fueled by mesquite and oak wood, crushed using a horse-drawn stone tahona wheel, and open-fermented in pine wood tubs with natural airborne yeasts. Following double-distillation in classic copper pot stills, the spirit is aged for 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels. This extended wood maturation softens the intense smoke, yielding a rich, luxurious profile laden with toasted oak, vanilla, dark chocolate, and warm baking spices layered over sweet cooked agave.

Food Pairing: Slow-cooked Oaxacan mole negro, grilled ribeye steak, braised short ribs, aged Gouda or Manchego cheese, dark chocolate truffles, or pecan pie.

Tasting Notes: Deep amber-gold in appearance with brilliant clarity, a rich, velvety full body, and slow, coating, viscous tears.

Nose: Rich, warm, and inviting, opening with toasted oak, vanilla bean, and sweet caramel, accompanied by dark chocolate, roasted agave, dried fruits, and a gentle, sweet mesquite smoke.

Palate: Velvety, lush, and complex on the palate, featuring caramelized agave nectar, butterscotch, and toasted oak upfront before unfolding into soft wood smoke, dark cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, and candied orange peel.

Finish: Long, warm, and elegant with lingering notes of sweet vanilla, toasted oak wood, gentle smoke, dried fruits, and a soothing baking spice warmth.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn glass or snifter to allow the rich barrel aging and sweet agave aromatics to fully open, or as an elevated base for an Old Fashioned.
