About the Schrader LPV 2014 6L Imperial
Schrader 'LPV' Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is a spectacularly rich, complex, and intensely aromatic luxury Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon crafted by acclaimed winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Sourced from the ancient, gravelly riverbed soils of the historic Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena, it displays an opaque purple-black color in the glass. The nose soars with expressive aromas of black raspberry, cassis, crushed rock minerality, mocha, and dried lavender, accented by hints of toasted oak and sweet spice. On the palate, this full-bodied red is opulent and beautifully layered, balanceing power with elegance, featuring fine-grained, polished tannins and vibrant energy that carries through to a long, majestic finish.
Food Pairing: Prime dry-aged ribeye steak, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, grilled venison tenderloin, and aged clothbound cheddar cheese.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon LPV is from clone 337 from the Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena. This shows Mission Haut-Brion-like characteristics as it has in the past, with crushed rock, wet gravel, scorched earth, blackberry and blueberry fruit. It is clearly one of my favorites of this entire tasting. It has 14.5% natural alcohol and was aged in 90% new Darnajou and 10% new Taransaud barrels. This is a killer effort.
