About the Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes 2017 375ml
The world's most iconic Sauternes and Bordeaux's only Premier Cru Supérieur, Château d'Yquem reveals extraordinary aromas of apricot, peach, pineapple, candied orange peel, honey, saffron, vanilla, acacia blossom, and toasted almond. Lusciously rich yet impeccably balanced, it delivers vibrant acidity, immense complexity, and an extraordinarily long, legendary finish with exceptional aging potential.
Food Pairing: Pair with foie gras, Roquefort, blue cheese, crème brûlée, fruit tarts, roasted peaches, apricot desserts, or enjoy on its own.
99 Points - James Suckling
The 2017 Château d'Yquem is a magnificent expression of the estate, combining breathtaking purity with remarkable intensity. Aromas of fresh and dried apricot, peach pastry, crème brûlée, candied orange, kumquat and marmalade unfold from the glass. Smooth and glossy on the palate, it delivers layers of grilled orange and dried apricot before finishing with extraordinary length, vibrant acidity and exceptional depth. A subtle touch of toasted oak is seamlessly integrated into this powerful, beautifully balanced Sauternes. One of the estate's finest vintages since the legendary 2001. Drink now or cellar.
99 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2017 Château d'Yquem is simply stunning, offering a fresh, mint-infused bouquet of apricot, baked pear, saffron, honeycomb and delicate flowers. Full-bodied, rich and flawlessly balanced, it unfolds across the palate with a bittersweet core before finishing endlessly with notes of crème brûlée, salted butter caramel and vanilla bean. Crafted from 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc, it contains 148 grams per liter of residual sugar.
96 Points - Decanter
Following an exceptionally early dry white harvest, the estate carefully selected its coolest clay parcels to preserve freshness before harvesting botrytized fruit. The result is a beautifully focused wine with fleshy white peach, pear, saffron, white pepper, subtle gunflint and slate, followed by a vibrant burst of ginger through the mid-palate. Only 45% of the crop was selected, producing a wine of remarkable precision, richness and aging potential despite its generous 148 g/L of residual sugar.
96 Points - Wine Spectator
Rich and luxurious, this wine layers coconut, creamed papaya, toasted hazelnut, warm peach and tangerine cream in seamless harmony. Notes of brioche and pie crust frame the long, refined finish, creating a Sauternes that is both opulent and impeccably poised. Crafted from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Best from 2025 through 2045.
