Salcheto Nobile Di Montepulciano 2018 is an exceptionally structured, elegant, and deeply expressive organic Tuscan red wine that beautifully exemplifies the terroir of Montepulciano. Crafted primarily from estate-grown Prugnolo Gentile (the local clone of Sangiovese), it undergoes 18 months of maturation in oak (70% in large casks and 30% in tonneaux) followed by six months of bottle aging. On the nose, it displays a fragrant bouquet of ripe black cherries, plums, and wild strawberries, accented by nuances of tobacco leaf, forest floor, and fragrant rosemary. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied and incredibly balanced, delivering savory red and dark fruit flavors supported by a refreshing spine of mineral acidity and fine-grained, granular tannins that lead to a persistent, savory finish.
