About the Chateau Saint-Pierre Saint-Julien 2015
Chateau Saint-Pierre Saint-Julien is a distinguished Bordeaux red showing blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle spice. Concentrated fruit, polished tannins, and fresh acidity provide impressive structure, while savory complexity and mineral depth carry through a refined, persistent finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast beef, lamb, duck, braised short ribs, game, or aged cheeses for a structured and elegant Bordeaux pairing.
97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2015 Chateau Saint-Pierre is a powerful blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Chocolate-covered dark fruit, damp earth, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings lead into a deeply concentrated palate with substantial mid-palate weight and steadily building tannins. Despite its power, it remains elegant and polished, with no hard edges and excellent aging potential.
93 Points - Decanter
Elegant blackcurrant aromas mingle with dried herbs and tobacco in this structured Saint-Julien. Initially plump and full-bodied, the palate gains weight as robust tannins emerge through the mid-palate. Chocolatey nuances shape the sturdy, persistent finish, delivering fine length and classic character. Best from 2022 through 2036.
93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, this opens with tightly wound blackberry, raspberry and cedar aromas, followed by subtle pencil shavings with air. Medium-bodied with succulent tannins and lively acidity, it emphasizes elegance, refinement and balance while promising further development with bottle age. Barrel Sample: 91–93.
92 Points - James Suckling
Vivid aromas of currants, mushrooms, dried flowers and tar introduce a full-bodied and layered palate. Polished in texture, the wine combines richness and juicy fruit with a lightly decadent character, delivering an expressive and generously textured Saint-Julien.
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Toasty and firmly structured, this wine displays generous spice and pronounced oak tannins alongside developing fruit. Its youthful structure brings some bitterness and extraction, but continued aging should allow the wood and fruit to integrate, creating a more harmonious and balanced expression. Best from 2025 onward.
