About the Bodegas Roda Roda I Reserva Rioja 2016
A magnificent and profound Spanish red wine masterfully crafted by Bodegas Roda in Rioja Alta. Selected exclusively from old-vine plots that yield a distinct black-fruit profile, this Reserva blends primarily Tempranillo with a small touch of Graciano. It undergoes controlled fermentation in French oak vats followed by sixteen months of aging in French oak barrels and an extended bottle cellaring, revealing an incredibly complex and polished architecture of ripe black plums, dark blueberries, sweet cloves, fine cocoa, and a deep, mineral-driven freshness.
Food Pairing: Pairs flawlessly with slow-roasted lamb shoulder, grilled venison loin, charcoal-broiled ribeye steak, wild boar ragout, or mature sheep milk cheeses.
95 Points - James Suckling
This shows a very pleasant and aromatic nose of underbrush, pine, thyme, blueberries and a touch of red fruit. The palate is medium- to full-bodied and in excellent shape, with silky fruit and subtly grainy yet polished tannins. It has good length, elegance and precision. 96% tempranillo and 4% graciano. Drink or hold.
