Robert Craig Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon is a highly structured, expressive, and deeply concentrated mountain-grown red wine sourced primarily from Joan Crowley’s meticulously managed vineyard, perched at an elevation of nearly 2,000 feet along the steep slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains. Thriving in thin, well-draining volcanic soils and subjected to cooler high-altitude conditions, the low-yielding vines produce small, intensely flavored berries. In the glass, it displays a deep, dark ruby-purple color. The highly complex and lifted nose opens with a fragrant bouquet of deep violet perfume, dark mountain flowers, wild blackberries, and huckleberries, seamlessly woven with signature mountain notes of pine forest, dried herbs, forest floor, and lead pencil shavings. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, compact, and layered, showcasing a voluptuous core of dark fruits, cassis, and black cherry. Balanced by a piercing line of natural mountain acidity and a powerful, firm frame of ripe mountain tannins, it offers a beautifully viscous yet velvety texture that culminates in a long, lingering, and precisely balanced finish accented by subtle notes of chocolate and sweet baking spices.
