About the Robert Craig Affinity Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Robert Craig Affinity Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is an exceptional, estate-grown red wine crafted from the stony soils of the La Londe Vineyard nestled in the Mt. George foothills of Napa Valley's Coombsville region. A meticulously composed Bordeaux-style blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, and 1% Malbec, it exhibits a dense, opaque purple-black color in the glass. The highly expressive nose opens with a fragrant bouquet of pure cassis, black cherries, and wild blackberries, seamlessly layered with complex undercurrents of espresso bean, cedar, wild sage, and crushed gravelly minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied and texturally pure velvet, showing an undeniable raciness backed by a sturdy spine of ripe, integrated tannins and a refreshing line of natural acidity. Concentrated layers of dark fruit, menthol, and a touch of licorice carry through to a remarkably long, structured, and sophisticated finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with pan-seared pepper steak with mashed potatoes, herb-crusted roasted rack of lamb, slow-braised venison stew, and aged Gouda cheese.
