Roagna Pira Barolo 2017 is an exceptionally complex, savory, and structured red wine crafted by Giovanni Roagna in Castiglione Falletto. Sourced exclusively from the historical Pira vineyard—a unique terroir featuring varied limestone, blue clay, and gray marl soils—it undergoes a lengthy skin maceration using the traditional submerged cap method, followed by five years of aging in large neutral oak casks. In the glass, it displays a radiant garnet hue with an extraordinarily expressive bouquet of red cherry, dried strawberry, crushed rose petals, tobacco, tar, and subtle eucalyptus. On the palate, it is dense, muscular, and lithe, presenting a tightly wound core of dark fruit, dried herbs, and flinty minerals, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a long, energetic finish.
