About the Rivetto Barbera d'Alba Zio Nando
A magnificent Northern Italian red wine that serves as a profound expression of a single-vineyard plot originally planted in 1944 by the current winemaker's great-uncle, Nando. Displaying a deep, impenetrable ruby red color with brilliant purple reflections, the highly complex nose opens with an explosive, intense bouquet of lush dark cherries, wild blackberries, and fleshy plums. This concentrated fruit core is masterfully layered with sophisticated notes of crushed violets, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, and an elegant touch of sweet baking spices derived from careful aging in a combination of large oak casks and smaller barrels. On the full-bodied and impeccably structured palate, it beautifully balances its immense depth of black fruit and a signature vibrant, mouth-watering acidity with a smooth, velvety texture and fine-grained, well-integrated tannins, leading into an exceptionally long, savory, and remarkably polished finish with serious aging potential.
Food Pairing: Pairs flawlessly with rich pasta dishes like handmade tajarin with wild boar ragu, slow-cooked pot roasts, roasted lamb with rosemary, and well-aged hard cheeses.
