Barone Ricasoli Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2020 750ml

Castello di Brolio is Barone Ricasoli's flagship wine created from a meticulous selection of estate-grown grapes. Produced only in the best years, this is an iconic wine which will leave a lasting impression. Its most salient features are the concentration and tannic structure.

Blend: 100% Sangiovese

Castello di Brolio is produced with the best selection of grapes from dedicated Sangiovese vineyards, adjacent to the Castle and planted on three of the most typical types of Chianti soils: Macigno del Chianti (sandy soil), Scaglia Toscana (schist) and Monte Morello (limestone). The blend from the different vineyards brings out all of Brolio’s classic qualities, and while the wine can immediately be paired perfectly with white and red grilled meats or aged cheeses, it can also be held a long time in the cellar before being opened.

Castello di Brolio in the wineglass is a characteristic ruby red and has the intense red fruit notes typical of Sangiovese - black cherry and raspberry, as well as flowers and spices. It is wonderfully full-bodied, but it has soft tannins, very refined, which enhance the pleasantness of each sip.

96 Points - James Suckling

Bright and floral on the nose with orange blossom to the vivid sliced cherry character. Medium body, with ultra-fine tannins that are supple and caressing. Gorgeous cooked peach pie and cherry aftertaste.

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

One of the estate's most important and successful bottles, the Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio is plump and rich with warm-vintage layers of blackberry, juicy cherry, spice and soft earth. It ages in tonneaux for 22 months, of which only 30% is new oak, yet that is more than enough to impart savory tones, soft tannins and rich textural support to this full-bodied Sangiovese.
