About the Raul Perez 'Kolor'
Raúl Pérez 'Kolor' is an expressive, vibrant, and highly distinctive red wine born from a collaboration between master winemaker Raúl Pérez and world-renowned contemporary street artist Okuda San Miguel. Crafted from old-vine Mencía vines planted over 50 years ago in clay-rich soils around Valtuille de Abajo in Bierzo, it undergoes whole-cluster fermentation in large oak vats and long macerations before aging for 12 months in used oak barrels and concrete tanks. In the glass, it presents an intense violet-ruby hue. The nose reveals a complex aromatic perfume of wild red berries, fresh pomegranate, violets, and subtle mineral flint alongside hints of roasted coffee and cocoa. On the palate, it is smooth, vibrant, and full-volumed, displaying polished tannins, bright Atlantic freshness, and a distinct chalky minerality leading into a long, harmonious finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with roasted lamb chops, grilled pork tenderloin, wild mushroom risotto, cured Spanish cecina, and medium-aged sheep's milk cheeses.
