Bodegas Ramírez de la Piscina Gran Reserva 2014 is a remarkably elegant, sophisticated, and traditionally crafted Rioja red wine that showcases the stunning depth of aged Tempranillo. Sourced from mature vines exceeding 30 years of age in the premier clay and limestone soils of Ábalos and San Vicente de la Sonsierra within Rioja Alta, this wine underwent meticulous fermentation before aging for 24 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. It was subsequently aged deep underground in the winery’s bottles for a further three years prior to release. In the glass, it pours a rich, deep ruby-red color with a subtle, brick-toned tawny rim. The nose is highly intense and complex, opening with fragrant aromas of candied cherries, cassis, and wild blackberries, beautifully supported by secondary notes of tobacco leaf, cocoa, cinnamon, cardamon, incense, and subtle cedar. On the palate, this medium-to-full-bodied wine is incredibly silky and refined. It seamlessly integrates smooth, fine-grained tannins with a lively line of food-friendly acidity, carrying succulent red fruit, butterscotch, and sweet spice flavors into a long, persistent, and mineral-infused finish.
